Kingsley and Greenwood Residents' Association Inc

KAGRA is the Kingsley & Greenwood Residents' Association - a group of ratepayers and residents who meet monthly to discuss any issues which concern our suburbs and the people who live there.

The Association was formed in March 2001 largely in opposition to the $27 “Flat Tax” security levy. It gained a significant increase in membership, following the unpopular precinct planning process in February 2002, and became incorporated soon after as the South Ward Ratepayers & Electors Association. The Association was compelled to change its name to KAGRA as a result of the ward boundary changes in the City of Joondalup, in February 2006, and Kingsley and Greenwood are now in the South-East Ward.

The main objective of KAGRA is to give residents a voice in their local government. We welcome requests or suggestions from our members and/or business proprietors that will enhance the facilities or environment of our district. If necessary, such matters will be brought to the attention of the City of Joondalup and followed up. Also, if members have specific problems or ideas they wish to take to the City of Joondalup, we will be happy to assist them.  We endeavour to obtain speakers at our meetings to keep us informed on various activities within our district.  South-East Ward Councillors, Brian Corr and Sue Hart, regularly attend our meetings and keep us informed of Council items that concern Kingsley or Greenwood. When time permits, Mayor Troy Pickard also attends.

The Committee undertakes to keep members regularly informed of any upcoming proposed developments, activities or enhancements in our suburbs.  Current items on the agenda include – improvements of our parks, underground power, more east-west bus routes, developments around Lake Goollelal, such as retirement homes, maintenance of verges etc.

So if you would like to join us in trying to get the best for our great suburbs, please come along on the second Wednesday of each month to the Calectasia Hall (opposite Greenwood Shopping Centre), Calectasia Street, Greenwood and let us know how we could better serve you, or offer suggestions for guest speakers, or just meet your many neighbours.

Membership costs only $5.00 per person per annum.

Note:  KAGRA Meetings are held on the 2nd Wednesday of each month at Calectasia Hall (opposite the Greenwood Shopping Centre) at 7:30pm.

Please come along --  we would love to see you there!
